Day 1 - The Pilgrimage

Day 2 - The Pilgrimage

Visit Gurre Castle ruin and Esrum Abbey & Møllegård. Enjoy lunch at Esrum Abbey where the food is part of the culture and the nature. Overnight stay at Maarumlund, a fully renovated old forester’s farm situated in the heart of Gribskov.

The Central Tower of Gurre Castle was built at the end of the 12th century, while the outer wall was erected during the reign of King Valdemar Atterdag in the 14th century. King Valdemar Atterdag very often resided in the castle and he died there.

Esrum Abbey and Møllegård

Day 3 - The Pilgrimage

A hike along Esrum Sø lake, Gribskov, Nøddebo Church and Frederiksborg Castle. Overnight stay at Danhostel Hillerød, a four star hostel with a unique location by Store Dyrehave deer park.

Day 4 - The Pilgrimage

On the fourth day, the modern North Sealand pilgrimage heads out west to the Æbelholt Abbey Ruin and then northwards along Arresø lake, past the idyllic Tibirke church and on to Tisvildeleje.
