Liseleje - Beach holidays like in the old days

Sand, as far as the eye can see, and clear blue-green water that tempts for a dip. Large, sun-warmed stones in the beach dike because Liseleje has slightly more hours of sunshine than most places in the country. It's a beach holiday like in the old days.

Liseleje is a cosy and relaxed seaside resort where generations of families have spent their summers. Just one hour’s drive from Copenhagen and you are in a different world – one that moves more slowly and invites you to de-stress.

Spring on the north coast is crisp and clear, and summer here is just that little bit better than most other parts of the country. Liseleje is an excellent example of the traditional seaside resort holiday! When the sun beats down from a cloudless sky on a calm summer day, there is no better place in the world to be than right here.

The sand stretches as far as the eye can see; the clear water sparkles with blue-green colours. Despite its modest size, there are plenty of great places to eat and stay.

Sunbathing in the dunes, long walks along the beach and unspoiled heathlands at Melby Overdrev. Nature experiences are a balm for body and soul.

But it’s also a seaside resort buzzing with activity all summer long with market days, Liseleje week, the Beer Festival, inviting cafés, restaurants and vintage boutiques. For the kids, one of the most beautiful natural playgrounds in the country is Havtyren.

If you visit the area in autumn or winter, the experience will be just as compelling, but different. Note nature’s powerful forces; listen to the winds and the crashing waves of the sea. And enjoy the outstanding sunset – all year round.

Something for everyone

Into yoga or chilling on the beach? Paddling in a sea kayak? Or visit the market stalls, play games and party? Liseleje has it all and the town buzzes with life all summer long, offering activities for people of all ages.

Hop on a bike or take a walk from Liseleje through Asserbo. Pass by the idyllic and magical troll forest and the scenic Melby Overdrev, soak in the sun's rays in the dunes or perhaps just take a stroll to the sea and enjoy the stunning view of the long coastline.

One of the country’s largest and most beautiful natural playgrounds, Havtyren is definitely worth a visit. Just opposite Havtyren, a mere 100m from the child-friendly beach, is Liselegeland playland. Children will love controlling the electric  cars on the fun driving track and not forgetting the adventure mini-golf course, where all the family can fuel their competitive
