Christmas in Hillerød - Join in to light up the city's Christmas tree
Christmas begins in Hillerød on November 24th, when Frederiksborg Castle is illuminated and the city's beautiful Christmas lights are turned on. Experience the unique atmosphere of anticipation and excitement in the air as large groups of families make their way to the Square to see the large Christmas tree light up. Christmas in Hillerød coincides with Black Friday, making it a great opportunity for shopping.
When spotlights illuminate the beautiful old Renaissance castle Frederiksborg, reflecting in the castle lake, and when the city streets glow with Christmas lights, fir trees, and hearts - that's when Christmas begins in Hillerød.

As tradition dictates, there will be a Christmas parade through the city's pedestrian streets with Klaverfabrikken's Santa Claus children, Nissegarden, playing festive Christmas music all the way to the Square. Here, the large Christmas tree will be lit up with the countdown of the many children and adults who gather on the Square on this special evening. And then Hillerød's very own Christmas tradition, Julemøllen, will be lit up, where you can peek into a beautiful elf landscape.
The stores hold Black Friday with extended opening hours until 10 PM, so you can combine the start of Christmas with buying the first Christmas presents.
