Tuesday City walks-Gunpowder, bullets and cannons

Experience the unique and well-preserved gunpowder plant area, close to Frederiksværk's town centre. Today, the area constitutes a recreational and diverse cultural environment with a museum, art gallery, associations and smaller companies. This walk begins with a visit to the old Charcoal Distillery, built by J.F. The class in the 1760s. It lasts longer than the museum's other Tuesday city walks, though the route is shorter.

The tour is concentrated in the unique, well-preserved gunpowder area, close to Frederiksværk's town centre and includes an atmospheric evening visit to the Gunpowder Museum and a small refreshment.

Today, the area constitutes a recreational and diverse cultural environment with a museum, art gallery, associations and smaller companies. It is currently undergoing a gentle upgrade as part of the project "Steeled City" - most recently in the form of a restoration of the canal itself and the creation of a new, safe transition between Nordtorvet and Krudtværk area.

On the walk, you get a glimpse into the past - when the gunpowder master just by listening to the mills' small bells could hear if the production was running as it should. We take a closer look at the individual houses and present the fascinating development within gunpowder production over 200 years.
