Follow the sloping bridge down into the former dry dock between Kronborg Castle and The Culture Yard and enter a fabulous underground museum, designed by the world-renowned Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) architects.

Dramatic exhibition design

Here you will meet a colourful world of numerous exhibitions telling the story of Denmark, as one of the leading maritime nations both past and present. The museum’s rich collections are evocatively and dramatically exhibited with large video projections on the architecture. Here you can see, listen and interact as you discover the maritime world.

Prizewinning architecture

M/S Maritime Museum of Denmark is one of the main reasons why Elsinore was on the New York Times list of 52 places to go in 2014. Since the opening 5 October 2013 the museum has been awarded several architecture- and design prizes.

M/S Café

Take a break in the M/S Café and enjoy a delicious lunch, hot and cold drinks, pastry and sweets.

Stylish museum shop

The museum shop ‘M/ S Cargo’ is also worth a visit. Here you can buy interior design, arts, books, jewellery, scents and beauty products, toys and fashion. Everything is imbued with quality and modern design. The museum shop is also available online.

Please find opening hours below. The museum is also open on the following Mondays: Week 7, the two Mondays during Easter and week 42. Closing dates: December 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 31st & January 1st.
