ForSea has received one of the world's most sought-after awards in the marine industry - Electric & Hybrid Marine Awards - for its electric-powered ferries on the Elsinore - Helsingborg crossing. The award, presented by an international jury of prominent marine journalists, industry experts and academics, will be displayed on June 27 in Amsterdam during the Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo 2019.

Hybrid Propulsion System of the Year

ForSea wins the main prize in the category "Electric & Hybrid Propulsion System of the Year". The jury's task was to select the most prominent electricity and hybrid power system that has been implemented within the past year and which has contributed to a cleaner and more efficient ferry operation. "The award proves that you can get a better environmental profile with a well-developed technology," says Johan Röstin, CEO at ForSea.

Other nominees in the category were

  • Stena Jutlandica's diesel-powered passenger and car ferry from Stena Line
  • Sendo Liner diesel-electric barge from Sendo Shipping
  • ORC 136.HY diesel-electric pilot from the Port of London Authority
  • LifeCraft electric and an inflatable lifeboat from Viking Life-Saving Equipment
  • OV Ryvingen diesel-electric, a multifunctional commercial vessel from the Swedish Coastal Administration.

ForSea operates ferry traffic with a minimal impact on the environment. And the award is another recognition of ForSea's commitment to converting to climate-friendly battery operation.
