Torup is home to the Dyssekilde eco-community, where you can be inspired by the architecture and the sustainable lifestyle. Stop by Café Torup to quench your coffee thirst or enjoy a communal dinner. Café Torup also features vegetarian and vegan dishes on the menu.
Torup Bogby offers used and antiquarian books, and in the Kældergalleriet (Basement Gallery) under the local supermarket, you can see exciting works of art. The Himmelstorm Festival, which is held during the last weekend in July, is a magnet for cool concerts, artist talks, art exhibitions and workshops. You can also fill your fridge with delicious local produce at Torup Market and find out more about the term “food odometer”. Torup Market is located at Dyssekilde Station and is open every other Saturday in odd-numbered weeks during the summer season (check local calendar for more details).
Torup also offers many exciting physical activities. Each year in mid-July, the Torup Movement Festival tempts visitors with a wide range of offerings ranging from yoga and dance to spiritual singing and much more. There are trains to Torup from Hundested, Frederiksværk and Hillerød – and the train stops just a few kilometres from the beach. If you do not have your own bike, you can rent one at Dyssekilde Station.
