Museum Nordsjælland - Ships Hall and The old House
In Gilleleje you can visit Museum Nordsjælland in 3 different places plus Nakkehoved Lighthouse east of the city.
The ship halls
The history of the North Sealand's fishers through more than 500 years has been told through exhibitions with fishing boats, sand on the floor, models, posters and tableaux. A presentation on modern fisheries tells about the increasing pollution and EU decisions that have given fishing challenges.
The Old House
The old house is an example of the fisherman's residence as it looked in the second half of the 19th century. The house has been home to changing blacksmiths and a watchmaker and shoemaker. Blacksmiths have had their workshop elsewhere, but watchmaker and shoemaker Jens Peter Petersen has had a workshop and "shop" in the eastern rooms.
The farmhouse in Østergade 20
From the old orchard that surrounds the old house and the ship halls, you can walk directly down to the garden by the farmhouse on Østergade 20. This house here until 2013 belonged to the fishing family Klug for several generations. Here you can see a summer home as it looked in the 1960s and was rented out to holidaymakers or fishers from Bornholm.
The Museum Café
In the garden, there is in the summer serving from the museum café, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee and homemade cake.
